A warm welcome for Frenchman INVŌKER, as he returns to TAU with more digital delights from his fertile lab. Since arriving on the scene INVŌKER has established himself through a series of phenomenal releases, each of which encapsulates his dextrous touch and vision. With impeccable production and plenty of dance floor appeal, his tracks feel like they’re made for TAU. This time he delivers a four-track EP full of flavour.
‘Ondulation (Part 2)’ launches the release, giving us an auditory massage for the mind. The languid pace and spinetingling production complements a beautiful vocal, which transports the listener to another dimension. Through this vocal portal we encounter INVŌKER’s ability to touch the mind, body and soul all at once.
Next up is ‘Paris Cotonou’, a cut designed to enliven the party, with uplifting rhythms and melodies, spliced with a moody bassline. INVŌKER’s arrangement and composition exquisite as usual, the track evolving and shifting gradually into new forms.
‘Witnesses’ has a lighter atmosphere, with a dainty melody and undulating low end providing the foundation for a bright and positive riff. The main body of the track slowly unfurls as we’re treated to a spellbinding cacophony of serene sounds and effects. A hint of tension keeps the listener engaged, increasing during the breakdown and taking us into a sombre second half.
Lastly, ‘Rain in the Southeast Suburbs’ closes the EP with a delightful extended intro, all twinkles and chimes, before we’re dipped into a dense funkified pumper. This house-inspired cut leaves the listener full of good energy, before the release comes to an end. Running at almost 10 minutes, it’s a mesmerising way to finish up.
