Founded in 1986 by Pete Hadfield and Keith Blackhurst. Mike Pickering later joined the label as A&R.
The label’s first release was Hot House – Don’t Come To Stay.

There were few releases post 2000, until in 2009, the label was revived by Sony Music Entertainment U.K. in a joint venture with Three Six Zero Group. Deconstruction is currently relaunching back catalogue, but new signings are also expected.
